Alfons Giehsz

Alfons Giehsz (born in Budapest in 1850, died in Vienna after 1916) was an illustrator and painter who worked mainly in Munich. His artistic career began in Budapest, but he later moved to Munich, which was considered an important art center at the time and offered many artists a wide range of opportunities for development. Giehsz specialized in illustrations and also painted numerous works. As an illustrator, he was probably involved in book projects and magazines, and his painting shows typical traits of the art scene of his time. Beyond his works, which were thematically and stylistically oriented towards the Munich School, however, little is known about his further life and work.
