Anton Karlinsky
Anton Hans Karlinsky (* May 4, 1872 in Vienna; † March 19, 1945 in Rossatz) was an Austrian landscape and portrait painter.
Karlinsky studied at the Vienna Academy under Julius Victor Berger and Eduard Peithner von Lichtenfels from 1887 to 1894. Study trips took him to Germany, Holland and Italy. He lived for a time in the artists’ colony in Fahrafeld and was a member of the Cooperative of Fine Artists in Vienna.
During the First World War, Karlinsky initially served as a lieutenant in the reserves and was transferred to active service in August 1914. He was stationed on the Carpathian front and served for three years without interruption. In 1917 he reported to the k.u.k. War Press Quarters, where he was accepted into the art group and worked on the Russian front. In 1918 he worked in Albania and Montenegro in spring and fall.
Anton Hans Karlinsky was the father of the artist Elisabeth Karlinsky (1904-1994) and the artist Anton Karlinsky (1905-1941).
