Arthur Lewin

Arthur Lewin, also known as Arthur Lewien (* May 4, 1860 in Schönbrunn near Troppau; † June 7, 1923 in Leipzig), was a costume designer and illustrator.

In 1874, Lewin moved to Leipzig, where he worked as a costume designer at the city theater from 1887 to 1906. In addition to his theater work, he created pictures for various magazines, including Neuer Deutscher Jugendfreund, and illustrated several books.

Particularly noteworthy are his two line etchings for the story Bei den Aussätzigen and three for Merhameh. Both works were published in the Eichsfelder Marien-Kalender and belong to the late work of the writer Karl May.
