Berthold Exner

Berthold Exner (born 1901 in Kiel; died 1990 in Kiel) was a German artist who made a name for himself in various artistic disciplines such as oil painting, watercolor, graphic art and drawing. After his apprenticeship at the Kiel School of Crafts, he studied at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts from 1924 to 1928.

After graduating, Exner worked as a stage designer at Kiel’s municipal theater, where he applied his creative talent in the field of theater art. He later worked as a freelance artist in Berlin and Kiel. During this time, he worked on various commissions, particularly for public institutions, leaving a lasting impression on the regional art scene. His works are characterized by a combination of technical skill and artistic expression.
