Caspar Augustin GEIGER
Caspar Augustin Geiger (* August 27, 1847, in Lauingen (Donau); † November 12, 1924, in Munich) was a German painter known for his genre scenes, historical paintings, and still lifes. Geiger began his studies in painting at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich on December 30, 1866, where he was taught by Wilhelm von Diez among others. After a lengthy stay in Venice, he lived in Munich until 1890, during which he created four dome paintings for the Glass Palace. He then moved to Kaiserslautern, where he served as a teacher of decorative painting at the Royal District School of Construction.
His younger brother Nikolaus was also a well-known painter and sculptor.
