Josef BÜCHE
Josef Büche (* February 29, 1848, in Vienna; † August 13, 1917, in Linz-Urfahr) was an Austrian portrait painter. Born as the son of a painter, Büche studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Eduard von Engerth and Carl Wurzinger, where he received a general study award.
He portrayed many members of the Austrian imperial family as well as other prominent personalities. From 1881 to 1901, he worked in Innsbruck, and in 1883, he became a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus. In addition to his own works, Büche also restored works by other painters.
He illustrated Die Österreichisch-ungarische Monarchie in Wort und Bild and exhibited his works at various art exhibitions.
