Richard Seemann

Richard Seemann (1857–1930) was a German painter from Stuttgart, best known for his landscapes, still lifes, and portraits. Born on February 15, 1857, in Stuttgart, he trained at the Stuttgart Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied under renowned teachers such as Ludwig Herterich, Gustav Igler, and Robert von Haug.

Seemann married Julie Heinrike Seiz (1863–1946), and the couple had a son, Erich Seemann (1888–1966). By 1888, the family was living in the city center of Stuttgart. Over the years, Seemann moved several times within Stuttgart, residing in Heusteigstraße 97A in 1898, Mittelstraße 13,1 in 1899, and finally settling in Römerstraße 86 in 1907, where he lived until his death.

An active participant in the art scene of his era, Richard Seemann exhibited his works in 1916 at a Stuttgarter Künstlerbund exhibition at the Hamburg Kunstverein. He passed away on February 18, 1930, in Stuttgart.
