Walter BLÜMEL
Walter Blümel (born May 3, 1921, in Trautenau, Czechoslovakia; died January 22, 1997, in Leonberg) was a German painter, sculptor, and poet. Blümel completed a painting apprenticeship in 1938 and pursued studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna during World War II. After establishing his first studio in Leonberg in 1946, he continued his education from 1948 as a master student under the renowned artist Willi Baumeister.
Blümel’s artistic focus lay in exploring the tension between humanity and technology, which he expressed through abstract paintings, sculptures, and poetry. His works often resembled technical drawings, capturing the interplay between technological advancements and human existence through his unique abstract style.
