Géza Victor Haussmann

Geza Victor Hausmann, also known as Haussmann or Hausmann-Sator, was born in Neustadt am Zeltberg, Austria-Hungary, in 1858 and died in Berlin-Steglitz on February 5, 1920. He was an important Austro-German painter.

The son of engineer Joseph Hausmann, Geza Hausmann began his artistic career in Vienna, where he received academic training as a portrait and history painter. His artistic skills led to a respected position in the art scene.

Particularly noteworthy is his role as the father of the Dadaist artist Raoul Hausmann, born in 1886, who later became an important figure in the Dadaist art movement himself.

In 1900, Geza Hausmann decided to move to Berlin with his family, where he continued to actively participate in his artistic work. Tragically, his life ended on February 5, 1920, when he and his wife Irene committed suicide in the apartment they shared at Feuerbachstraße 12.
