Theodor Guggenberger
Theodor Guggenberger (December 31, 1866 – December 6, 1929) was a German painter born in Munich. He was the son of the painter Thomas Guggenberger and likely received his education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. In 1889, Guggenberger married.
He was known for his work as a theater, landscape, and architectural painter. His watercolors were often lithographically reproduced and used as motifs for postcards. Guggenberger also designed paper theaters for the Schreiber-Verlag and created caricatures for Die Fliegenden Blätter. The City History Museum in Leipzig houses numerous backdrop sketches created by Guggenberger. In 1909, he illustrated Ein lustig Jahr der Tiere by Gustav Falke. For the Bavarian State Exhibition 2016 on Beer in Bavaria, films featuring Luise Kinseher were produced, showcasing her as a Bavarian waitress in a Guggenberger-designed setting.
