Anton LAMPRECHT

Anton Lamprecht was born on August 12, 1901 in Allershausen and died on January 22, 1984 in Munich. He was a renowned German painter.

Lamprecht was born the illegitimate son of Magdalena Brunner, a maid. His parents only married four months after his birth. He grew up in Freising, where he developed his exceptional drawing skills at school at a young age. At the age of 17, Lamprecht first moved to Munich and a year later to Düsseldorf to study at the art academy under Lothar von Kunowski. He completed his studies with distinction after six semesters.

After a year as a trainee teacher at the Ohligs-Wald secondary school in the Rhineland, Lamprecht returned to Munich in 1923. There he studied painting under Karl Caspar at the Munich Art Academy and was involved in the painting of Bamberg Cathedral.

Lamprecht received recognition for his work and was awarded the Albrecht Dürer Prize of the City of Nuremberg in 1927 and the Rome Prize in 1929. He was a member of the Deutscher Künstlerbund and the Neue Gruppe.

Anton Lamprecht left behind a significant artistic legacy and died in Munich at the age of 82.
