Djuro Popec

Djuro Popec, born on April 5, 1943 in Gornja Suma, near Molve in Podravina, is a renowned Croatian painter. He already had a passion for painting in his youth, but it was not until 1972, comparatively late in life, that it came to full bloom. Although he works full-time as a driver, he has continued to develop his artistic talent.

Popec finds his inspiration in his native Podravina and in everything that makes up his daily environment. His works reflect the beauty and authenticity of the region, especially capturing the people, the characteristic shapes of trees and unusual rocks, and the sky flooded with special light.

His artistic journey has taken him to numerous exhibitions both in Croatia and abroad, where his works are appreciated by a wide audience. In 1978, he proudly organized his first solo exhibition, which marked the beginning of a successful career. Djuro Popec remains faithful to his creative work and continues to enchant with his impressive depictions that capture the soul of his homeland.
