Eduard Heinrich

Eduard Heinrich, also known as Ede Pest HEINRICH, worked as a court painter. He was born in Budapest in 1819 and died in Milan in 1885. He received his artistic training first in Vienna and later in Rome. Between 1844 and 1862 he lived in Italy, where he was commissioned by Archduke Miksa to create a cycle of paintings for the Miramare Palace. In 1863, he designed the murals for the Festetics Palace on Pollack-Mihály Square. His oeuvre included portraits, genre paintings and historical themes in the style of Viennese academicism. His works can be found in various collections, including two oil sketches in the Museum of Fine Arts and pastels and ink drawings in the Ernst Museum.
