Hans Fritsch

Hans Fritsch, real name Johannes Georg Moritz Fritsch (1870-1945), was a German painter.

Born in Dresden, Fritsch was initially destined for a career as a musician and attended the Dresden Conservatory. From 1887 to 1899, he studied intermittently at the Dresden Academy, ultimately as a studio student of Gotthardt Kuehl. After completing his studies, he worked as a freelance artist in Dresden.

Fritsch contributed to the Munich magazine “Jugend” and took part in art exhibitions in Dresden, Munich, Berlin and Leipzig. He was a member of the Dresdner Kunstgenossenschaft and the Allgemeine Deutsche Kunstgenossenschaft. He remained active in Dresden throughout his career.
