Hassan Atia

Hassan Atia, born in Egypt in 1953, is also known as “The Egyptian Picasso”. His artistic signature reflects the inspiration of Pablo Picasso’s famous abstract portraits. Atia shows a remarkable devotion to the conceptual norms of cubist abstraction, but incorporates them into his own creative composition in a refreshing and contemporary way. In his work, the emphasis on form and the skillful use of sgraffito techniques becomes a succinct expression of his unique style and his recognition of traditional painterly processes in art history.
