Jana Zanoskar

Jana Zanoskar (* 1965 in Ljubljana, Slovenia) is a Slovenian artist. She was born in Ljubljana, a city associated with the myth of Jason and the Argonauts, and has lived and worked in Tuscany for many years.

As a painter, Zanoskar is known for her mysterious, dreamlike moments in which she skillfully uses shapes, signs and colors to transfigure reality in a lyrical, objective key. In her abstract research, the artist displays an exploratory consciousness that manifests itself in completely new forms of expression. In doing so, she affirms the sense of form as pure vitality, bearing witness to the abstract sound of color and the rhythm of volumetry, engaging in a loving dialogue with the chromatic material.

Her marked preference for abstract geometric forms is undoubtedly due to the stylizing taste that strongly influenced her. The material richness resulting from the integration of materials of different nature and origin into the painting and the abundance of color pastes, which are constantly reinvented, reveal a sure mastery of the means of expression. These means are capable of reproducing plasticity and volumetry, characteristics reminiscent of classicism.
