Louis GINNETT

Louis Ginnett was born in Brighton on July 24, 1875 and also died in Brighton in 1946. He was a British painter who specialized in portraits, murals and stained glass. He received his artistic training at the renowned Académie Julian in Paris.

Ginnett taught at the Brighton School of Art from 1909 to 1939 and had a significant influence on the artistic education of many students. During the First World War, he served as a war painter at the front, where he documented the events and impressions of the war.

He was a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and eventually achieved the office of President of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. His works are in the permanent collections of the Brighton Museum & Art Gallery and the Imperial War Museum, underlining his importance and recognition in the British art scene.
