Miklos Nemeth

Miklós Németh, born on February 14, 1934 in Budapest and died on February 23, 2012, was a Hungarian avant-garde painter and graphic artist.

He studied at Ödön Márffy’s painting school from 1950 to 1954, where he was taught by renowned teachers such as István Ilosvai Varga, Emil Gádor and Tóth Menyhért. In 1990 and 1998 he served as general secretary of the Buda Artists’ Group. Németh was actively involved in the artists’ colonies in Tokaj and Telkibánya and presented one of his most important works in the village of Telkibánya.

His artistic work has been recognized with various awards, including the prize of the Spring Exhibition in Pesterzsébet in 1981 and local and national awards at amateur exhibitions, most recently on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Pest-Buda Union.

In 1996 he was awarded the István Varga Ilosvai Prize.
