PIETER MULIER d.J.

Pieter Mulier the Younger (1637-1701), known as il Tempesta or Cavaliere Tempesta, was a pupil of his father Pieter Mulier the Elder (1615-1670) in Haarlem. After emigrating to Rome, he also worked in Genoa. There he was sentenced to 16 years in prison for the murder of his wife, but was able to flee to Parma after the French bombardment in 1684, where he worked into old age, allegedly wearing two pairs of spectacles one on top of the other.
