Raymond Dalifard

Raymond Dalifard is a painter who was born in Châteauneuf sur Sarthe in 1901. The artist painted instinctively, developing a very personal technique and his own style. Influenced by the struggles of the 20th century avant-gardes, Dalifard managed to find his own way, completely original and outside the groups and schools around him. Although Dalifard always stays close to the subject he deals with, he transforms it by stylizing the volumes, flattening and simplifying them to highlight their essence. The same applies to the colors, which give the canvases a smooth surface inhabited by large areas of intense color. Dalifard successfully exhibited his paintings every year at the Salon des Indépendants. After the Second World War, he exhibited at the Salon des Surindépendants. He died in 1975. In 1976, the Salon des Indépendants dedicated a retrospective to him in which six paintings, carefully selected for their importance, bear witness to all aspects of his creative temperament.
