Rudolf Geyer

Rudolf Geyer, born on January 24, 1884 in Vienna and died there on June 3, 1972, was an Austrian graphic designer and painter.

Geyer completed his training from 1904 to 1909 at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts and continued his studies from 1909 to 1913 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Franz Rumpler. As early as 1906, Geyer’s typeface designs were published by his teacher Rudolf von Larisch. As a member of the Ă–sterreichischer Werkbund, he was active in the field of book design for various publishers. He also designed commercial graphics for the Wiener Werkstätte.

In 1934, he joined the illegal NSDAP and the SA and officially applied for membership of the party on June 3, 1938, whereby he was accepted retroactively to May 1 of the same year (membership number 6.336.115). Rudolf Geyer was buried in the Vienna Central Cemetery.
