Wilhelm Thelen

Wilhelm Thelen (1917-1985) was a renowned German artist known for his impressive landscape and figure paintings. Born in Oberhausen and died in Düsseldorf, Thelen left behind a significant artistic legacy.

Thelen acquired his artistic knowledge and skills by studying at the Düsseldorf Art Academy (AK Düsseldorf), where he further developed his talent under the guidance of renowned teachers such as Schmurr and Heuser. He also deepened his skills through private lessons with the renowned painter Jo Strahn.

His artistic work was characterized by his masterful depiction of landscapes and figures. His works reflected an extraordinary sensitivity for colors and forms and conveyed a deep connection to nature and human existence.

In addition to his own painting, Wilhelm Thelen was also committed to supporting up-and-coming artists. He founded his own painting school in Düsseldorf, where he passed on his knowledge and experience and thus made an important contribution to the art scene of his time.
