Although there is no comprehensive catalog raisonn\u00e9 of his work to date, his contribution to southern German painting has become particularly well known through regional exhibitions.\n\nWunderlich was born as the son of the head bailiff Hermann Wunderlich and his wife Klara Beate, n\u00e9e L\u00f6flund. He married Helene Kleinlein in Heidelberg on June 4, 1898. He lived and worked mainly in Stuttgart until his death. After starting out as a businessman with his own agency business, Wunderlich increasingly turned to painting from 1941 onwards, which is also reflected in the last editions of the Stuttgart address book before the end of the war, where he is listed exclusively as an \u201cart painter\u201d.\n\nAs a member of the W\u00fcrttembergischer Kunstverein, Wunderlich was actively involved in the association's exhibitions as well as those of other art associations. Some of his works were first shown at the Heidelberger Kunstverein in 1904, and he exhibited there again in 1906. In Stuttgart, his work \u201cGewitterschw\u00fcle\u201d was presented at the W\u00fcrttembergischer Kunstverein in November 1906.
