W. Leo Arndt (* November 6, 1857, in Eilenburg; \u2020 November 11, 1945, in Berlin) was a German illustrator and etcher.<\/p>\n
Born in Eilenburg in the Province of Saxony, Arndt studied at the Leipzig Academy of Fine Arts and later at the art schools in Berlin and Karlsruhe. He worked as a freelance illustrator and etcher, with many of his engravings, drawings, and genre paintings exhibited in German museums.<\/p>\n
Around 1900, Arndt spent time in Sarajevo, where he co-founded an artist’s club with painter Maximilian Liebenwein, artist Johanna Kobilca, and his brother, the painter Ewald Arndt.<\/p>\n
Arndt was a member of various prominent art associations, including the Berlin Artists’ Association, the Association of German Illustrators, the earlier Graphic Arts Union, and the Federation of Visual Artists.<\/p>\n
